Letters of Support

From Bernie O'Farrell, President, Sunbury Residents' Association:
A Personal Message from the President of the Sunbury Residents' Association:

The Sunbury Residents' Association endorsed Jack Ogilvie for Evans ward at the 1997 and 2000 Hume council elections, and has once again endorsed Jack for the 2003 election.

Candidates elected to council are never instructed by the Association on how to vote on matters dealt with by the council. They are expected to maintain their independent status and be available to represent all residents in Sunbury.

Since Jack Ogilvie was elected to the Hume council in 1997, he has been an outstanding councillor who has worked hard and fearlessly in a difficult environment to protect and advance Sunbury's interests.

Jack has been particularly active in defending the council's current planning scheme, which is designed to retain the 'green-belt' between Sunbury and the metropolitan area. This ensures Sunbury's semi-rural lifestyle is preserved.

Jack has fought hard as our councillor and is strongly committed to being an honest and accountable representative for Sunbury. Jack regularly consults with the local community and Sunbury has benefited from his extensive local knowledge and experience.

I would ask you to support Jack Ogilvie in Evans ward at the forthcoming election.

From W. Walters, Goonawarra Residents Advocacy Body:
"Improvements to the Goonawarra Estate"

Dear Jack,

Goonawarra Residents Advocacy Body wish to congratulate you and Hume City Council for all of our City Improvement Projects in Goonawarra.

When we look back to see what things looked like before these improvements, the change from a "dust bowl" at the entrance roundabout to now having a beautiful landscaped entrance looks absolutely terrific!

Nearly every street sign has been replaced and there have been new ones added to promote the facilities now offered in the estate. The bus shelters have been added or upgraded, and new recycling bins are on the way. The footpaths have been refurbished in many areas, and many residents have also noted that Lancefield Road, Francis Boulevard and Sunbury Road -- all leading to the estate -- have all had total resurface work completed.

Many thanks for the new bus shelter in Sunbury Road, with its landscaping and new footpath connection.

The residents are out appreciating the improvements, and admiring the environment, which include the new bollards at the Tulsa Drive reserve.

Thank you, and well done Jack and all involved in the continuous improvements to our estate.

From Glenn Ingram, Director, Dalglen Nominees Pty Ltd:
"Cinema and Retail Development -- Horne Street, Sunbury"

Dear Jack,

Please accept my personal thanks for your enthusiastic support during the planning and permit stages of the Horne Street Cinema and Retail development.

With all the major planning and permit issues now finalised, construction is due to commence in early February (2000).

By early May, the new Brook Street car park next to the Sunbury Station will be completed, and will provide more than three times as much parking as is presently available.

The cinema and retail development in Horne Street is due for completion in November, and will include a cinema complex, a Safeway supermarket, and a Big W department store. More than 700 car spaces will be available within the Horne Street development, some of which will be for the exclusive daytime use of rail passengers. The development also includes a new pedestrian overpass across the railway line, featuring both ramp and stair access.

Without your support this project might not have proceeded, and I'm sure I speak for many Sunbury residents when I thank you for your commitment to the ongoing improvement of Sunbury and the Town Centre.

Yours faithfully,

Dalglen Nominees Pty Ltd

From Glenn Ingram, Director, Dalglen Nominees Pty Ltd:
"Safeway Petrol Plus -- Horne Street, Sunbury"

Dear Jack,

Thank you very much for your support for Petrol Plus Sunbury. You were proven to be right in your defence of the need to have a Petrol Plus in Sunbury, as can be seen now by the reduction in petrol prices in Sunbury compared to what they used to be.

Our petrol is now 3c to 4c cheaper per litre on average (compared to the metropolitan discount prices) than before Petrol Plus was opened -- Sunbury is regularly mentioned as having the cheapest petrol in Victoria on Fox FM's petrol reports.

Yours faithfully,

Dalglen Nominees Pty Ltd
Glenn Ingram, Director
