Activities:
- The
Association lobbies Governments and the private sector for facilities
and services including roads (Duplication of Macedon Street
Bridge) and public transport (including trains), as well as
local facilities, including cinemas for Sunbury and the retention
and upgrade of the Sunbury youth centre.
- Members
of the Association are also active in a range of other local
community, and sporting organisations. Our members actively
participate in a range of local actives which support the community
development of Sunbury, including clean up days and tree planting.
- The
Association is about protecting the rural environment around
Sunbury. This has involved three major and successful submissions
and presentations to independent planning panels (including
protection of Vineyard Road area as a major entrance to Sunbury).
In each case the panel strongly supported and endorsed the Association's
position.
- The
withdrawal of Sunbury from the City of Hume to establish the
new Shire of Sunbury. This issue continues to be a major aim.
